About the position: Director of Publisher Relations is responsible for securing, nurturing, and deepening relationships with leading online Publishers that serve as the foundation of the company's media business. This group serves as the primary point of contact for all publisher relationships and is responsible for navigating all internal resources on behalf of publishers to ensure their success from the on boarding process, to market positioning and packaging, to driving revenue and results. The position is ideally based in San Francisco and will require modest to frequent travel to Los Angeles, New York, and anywhere else where the search and support of great partners is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead publisher business development including prospecting for and recruitment of key publishers
  • Owning publisher retention and relationship management with the goal of ensuring high publisher satisfaction by being the main point of contact for each publisher's interface to the organization.
  • Act as strategic partner for publishers, helping evaluate, model, and improve the prospects for their media business.
  • Work with Ad Operations, Sales and Marketing Solutions teams to coordinate the publisher onboarding process
  • Establish process for and oversee all regular communications with publishers (weekly pipeline reports, weekly sales calls to key partners, monthly revenue reports, market feedback and learnings, )
  • Work with Sales, Sales Planning and Ad Operations to ensure adequate publisher representation during the sales process
  • Responsible for the process around updating the team on publisher developments (e.g. new sites, products, and opportunities)
  • Help shape processes and procedures to ensure the right level of service by publisher and ensuring that internal resources are properly balanced
  • Recommend 3rd party tools and participate in the creation of internal tools to help manage publisher relationships and workflow

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 4 Year Bachelors Degree
  • 5+ years total work experience
  • 2+ years experience in online media
  • 2+ years prior experience doing high touch partner relations for key clients
  • 2+ years prior experience in business development and negotiating sophisticated relationships
  • Excellent relationship forger and ability to build trust quickly
  • Very highly driven self-starter who proactively seeks out opportunities to improve and has a strong track record of success
  • Ability to engage and gain respect of senior executives from marquee publishers
  • Strong understanding of industry trends, technologies and publisher monetization solutions
  • Ability to identify opportunities to establish and/or improve processes to maximize resource effectiveness
  • Extremely effective communicator, able to manage client relations with a diverse set publishers
  • Ability to think strategically and still be detailed oriented and organized
  • Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, comScore, Sales Force and related tools. Working knowledge of ad technologies is a plus.
